Arijit Singh has stunned his fans by returning to playback singing just months after announcing his retirement on January 27. According to TV9 Bangla, the celebrated singer has lent his voice to the much-anticipated film Awarapan 2, breaking his brief hiatus from music.
The unexpected comeback raised questions about whether this was due to an old contractual obligation or something else. However, music composer Amal Malik clarified on social media that the song was neither pre-recorded nor linked to any prior agreement. Malik explained, "I am saying this for the last time, this is not an old contract. I sent this tune to Arijit a few months ago, and he gave the green light to sing it just last week!"
Amal revealed that the true reason behind Arijit's sudden decision lies within the song itself. If the music does not resonate with him, Arijit never takes on a project. Malik stated, "Only a pure melody can bring this lion out of his cave. Once again, Arijit has poured his heart out singing 'Ye Awarapan.'"
Besides the powerful composition, Arijit's deep friendships and respect for the film's team played a role in his comeback. His chemistry with Amal Malik is well-known, and his association with producer Bhushan Kumar's T-Series and actor Imran Hashmi has created many memorable hits like "Tum Hi Ho" from Aashiqui 2 and "Phir Mohabbat" from Murder 2.
Awarapan 2, directed by Nitin Kakkar, also stars Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi alongside Imran Hashmi. The film is scheduled for release on August 14, 2026. Fans have unanimously hailed Arijit's surprise return as the best gift ahead of the movie's premiere.
